Lighting Design & Technical Direction
About Me
Originally from Hong Kong, Steph is a Theatre Technical Director and Lighting Designer. They are currently an M.F.A. candidate in Technical Design and Production at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. Steph earned their M.F.A. in Lighting Design from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2020 (Taiwan).
Their credits include serving as Technical Director for the Main Lantern “TPE-40” at the Taipei Lantern Festival and for “Cyborg Eros” by Anarchy Dance Theater at the National Taichung Theater (Taiwan). As a Lighting Designer, they have worked on the Taiwan Yale Ensemble at the Taiwan National Concert Hall (Taiwan), Lei Dance Theater’s “Flow” at the Festival d'Avignon Off (France), and Liu I-Ling's “...and, or...,” which won The Jury Prize at the Yokohama Dance Collection (Japan).
In 2022, they and Cathy Ho won the Technical Invention First Prize (TIP) in Calgary, Canada. Additionally, their works “Resonance” and “The Bacchae” were finalists for Emerging Lighting Design at World Stage Design 2022 in Calgary. Recently, they have begun creating installation art. Steph aspires to combine different disciplines to provide new experiences and perspectives in "LIGHT.
